Product naming on a marketplace is the first decision that determines whether your product will be found in search and whether it will be clicked in the listings. The rules vary by marketplace: on Trendyol, a title can be at most 100 characters; on n11, between 15 and 65 characters; and on Amazon.com.tr, at most 200 characters in most categories. Hepsiburada, meanwhile, does not publish a public character limit. In this guide, we compare the rules of four marketplaces in a single table, give good and bad title examples, and explain how to name the same product across multiple channels.
Product naming rules by marketplace
The table below summarizes the title rules found in each marketplace's official documentation and seller help pages. A title that exceeds the limit is either rejected outright or you are asked to shorten it, so when you prepare a product card, first check which channel has the shortest limit.
| Marketplace | Title limit | Recommended structure | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trendyol | At most 100 characters | Brand + Product type + Key feature + Variant (color/size) | No all caps, emoji, special characters or marketing phrases such as "cheapest" or "don't miss out" |
| Hepsiburada | The official limit could not be verified in a public source; staying under 150 characters is the safe approach | Brand + Product name + Model + Feature + Quantity | The brand goes first |
| n11 | At least 15, at most 65 characters; 31–65 is ideal for the quality score | Brand + Product type + Distinguishing feature | The limit is short, so there is no room for repeated words |
| Amazon.com.tr | At most 200 characters including spaces in most categories | Brand + Product + Key features; about 60 characters is recommended | ! $ ? _ { } ^ ¬ ¦ are banned unless part of the brand name; the same word may appear at most twice |
| Temu | No public official rule could be found | General principles (brand, product type, feature) | Follow the warnings in the seller panel |
The Hepsiburada information in the table was compiled from seller guides; since the marketplace does not publish an official number, read it as a "safe approach." Starting July 27, 2026, Amazon.com (US) limited titles in non-media categories to 75 characters; there is no official announcement to that effect for Amazon.com.tr. For details, see our article on Amazon product title rules.
The structure of a good product title
The templates recommended by the marketplaces are very similar. All of them aim to match the first half of the title with the words a customer will type into the search box. In practice, a title is made up of these parts:
- Brand: The product's brand. If you have not registered your own brand, use the brand name registered with the marketplace; do not write "Unbranded" or your store name.
- Product type: The generic name the customer searches for: "decorative vase," "phone case," "storage container."
- Distinguishing feature: Material, size, capacity, compatibility or use case. This is the information that sets yours apart from hundreds of products in the same category.
- Variant: Color, size or clothing size. Depending on the marketplace's variant structure, it is either written in the title or not (we explain below).
- Quantity/pack: For multi-unit sales, information such as "set of 3" or "2 pieces." It has its own slot in the Hepsiburada template.
Order matters. In list view, especially on mobile, the end of the title is often cut off. Put the most important information (brand and product type) first and the least critical last.
Example 1: Decorative vase
The brand names in the examples below are fictional.
| Case | Title | Problem / Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Bad | SÜPER FIRSAT!!! Çok Şık Vazo Dekoratif Vazo Vazo Hediyelik 🔥 | All caps, exclamation marks, emoji, "vazo" (vase) three times, no brand or size |
| Bad | vazo | A single word; also below n11's 15-character minimum |
| Good (Trendyol, n11) | Evora Seramik Dekoratif Vazo 30 cm Mat Bej | 42 characters; includes brand, material, product type, size and color |
| Good (Amazon.com.tr) | Evora Seramik Dekoratif Vazo 30 cm Mat Bej, Kuru Çiçek ve Pampas İçin Masa Vazosu | 81 characters; use case added, well below the 200 limit |
Example 2: Phone case
| Case | Title | Problem / Plus |
|---|---|---|
| Bad | iphone kılıf en ucuz orijinal kılıf %100 kaliteli | Unprovable claims; the case reads as if it were another brand's product |
| Good (n11) | Kaplon iPhone 15 Uyumlu Silikon Kılıf Siyah | 43 characters; the word "Uyumlu" (compatible) makes clear the case is not an Apple product |
| Good (Trendyol) | Kaplon iPhone 15 Uyumlu Silikon Kılıf Kamera Korumalı Siyah | 59 characters; a standout feature added |
Use another brand's name only if your product is compatible with it, and only with wording such as "compatible." Otherwise, the title gives the customer the impression that the product belongs to that brand, and your product can be taken down following a complaint from the brand owner.
Phrases to avoid in a product title
Marketplace content rules and consumer legislation meet at the same point: the title is there to describe the product, not to serve as a space for campaigns or claims. Remove the following from your title:
- Marketing and urgency phrases: "cheapest," "don't miss out," "last chance," "super," "legendary."
- Price and campaign information: "40% off," "free shipping," "buy 1 get 1 free." Once the campaign ends, the title starts giving false information.
- Unprovable superiority claims: "100% original," "best quality," "number 1."
- All-caps text, emoji and decorative symbols: Trendyol explicitly discourages them; Amazon.com.tr bans certain special characters.
- Keyword stuffing: Repeating the same word or adding irrelevant popular words. On Amazon.com.tr, the same word cannot appear more than twice.
- Store name, phone number or web address: The title is product information, not a contact channel.
Law No. 6502, Article 61: a claim in the title is advertising too
Under Article 61 of Law No. 6502 on Consumer Protection, commercial advertisements must be truthful and honest, and the advertiser is obliged to prove the claims in the advertisement. Because the product title is the first text that introduces the product to the customer, a claim you cannot prove, such as "cheapest" or "100% original," concerns not only marketplace rules but also advertising legislation.
For special cases that require a legal interpretation (e.g., certified "organic" or "medical" claims), we recommend consulting a lawyer before publishing the product.
Variant names: how should color, size and clothing size be written in the title?
Whether to write variant information in the title depends on how the marketplace groups variants. Trendyol is the clearest example:
- Slicer attribute (e.g., color): Each value creates a separate product card. A black case and a navy case appear as two separate products in the listings. That is why it makes sense to put the color at the end of the title.
- Varianter attribute (e.g., clothing size): Values are shown as options on the same card. If you write the size in the title, the S, M and L options will all carry the same title, so the title becomes wrong.
- Model code (productMainId): Products with the same model code are grouped as variants. We explained with examples how to set up the model code and stock code in our article What is a SKU.
On Trendyol, a product can only be uploaded to the lowest-level category and with the mandatory attributes filled in. The color or size in the title must match exactly the value you entered in the category attribute; a product with "beige" in the title and "cream" in the attribute misleads both customers and filters.
Apply the same principle on other marketplaces: enter variant information in the category attribute fields first, and make sure the wording in the title does not contradict that field. Instead of typing free-form color names ("midnight blue," "dusty rose"), using the value from the marketplace's attribute list makes it easier to appear in filters; you can leave the special shade name for the description.
Listing the same product with different titles on different marketplaces
Copying a single title to every channel looks like the fastest route, but it causes problems because the limits differ: a 120-character title written for Amazon will not fit on n11 or Trendyol, while a short title written for n11 leaves out valuable information on Amazon, such as the use case.
The sustainable method is to define a master title and shortening rules per channel:
| Channel | Title | Characters |
|---|---|---|
| Master record | Lunaro Borosilikat Cam Saklama Kabı 3lü Set 1 lt Fırına ve Mikrodalgaya Uygun Kilitli Kapaklı | 93 |
| Trendyol | Lunaro Borosilikat Cam Saklama Kabı 3lü Set 1 lt Kilitli Kapak | 62 |
| n11 | Lunaro Cam Saklama Kabı 3lü Set Kilitli Kapak | 45 |
| Amazon.com.tr | Master record as is (add the use case if needed) | 93 |
When shortening, remove the use case and secondary features first, and the brand and product type last. The brand and product type should never be shortened on any channel.
Even if titles change by channel, the identifiers that tie the product together should not. If the stock code (SKU) and barcode stay the same on every channel, orders, stock and invoices land on the same product; otherwise, a product sold on one channel keeps showing as in stock on another. We explained why this matching is critical in our articles What is stock synchronization and What is a barcode. For sellers working across multiple channels, integration software makes this easier by keeping a separate title field per channel.
Product naming on Temu
For Temu, we could not find a public, official title character limit or naming template for sellers in Türkiye. For this reason, we are not giving an exact number. When uploading products to Temu, apply the general principles above (brand and product type first, distinguishing feature in the middle, no marketing phrases) and follow the warnings the seller panel gives. We will update this section once Temu publishes them.
Product naming checklist
Before publishing a new product, check the title in this order:
- Is the brand first, and is it written with the brand name registered with the marketplace?
- Is the product type expressed with the generic name the customer will search for?
- Is there at least one distinguishing feature (material, size, compatibility)?
- Is the character count within the channel limit (Trendyol 100, n11 15–65, Amazon.com.tr 200)?
- Are there any all caps, emoji, exclamation marks or banned characters?
- Have claims or campaign phrases such as "cheapest," "100% original" or "discount" been removed?
- Is the same word repeated unnecessarily?
- Do the color and size in the title match the values in the category attributes?
- Are the SKU and barcode the same on all channels?

Frequently asked questions
How many characters can a product title be on Trendyol, n11 and Amazon?
On Trendyol, at most 100; on n11, at least 15 and at most 65; and on Amazon.com.tr, at most 200 characters including spaces in most categories. Hepsiburada does not publish an official limit; staying under 150 characters is the safe approach.
Can I include a discount percentage in the product title?
It is not recommended. Discount wording is a discount advertisement and is subject to rules such as the previous price having to be the lowest price in the last 10 days before the discount; manage discounts through the marketplace's campaign tools.
Should I list the same product with the same title on every marketplace?
No need. Since character limits differ, it is better to keep one master title and shorten it for each channel; however, the SKU and barcode should stay the same across all channels.
Can I use another brand's name in my product title?
Only if your product is compatible with that brand's product and you state this with wording such as "compatible." Otherwise, the title is misleading, and the product can be taken down following a complaint from the brand owner.
Is there a character limit for product titles on Temu?
We could not find a public, official title limit or template for Temu. We recommend applying the general principles and following the warnings in the seller panel.
