The marketplace invoicing process in Türkiye rests on the same tax rules on every platform. Because you make the sale, you issue the customer's invoice. The marketplace is only the channel you use to deliver that invoice to the customer. What changes is how you send the invoice to the platform, how coupons and discounts are handled, and which document closes out a return. In this guide, we've gathered what applies step by step for Trendyol, Hepsiburada, n11 and Amazon. We also cover the invoices the marketplace issues to you and the open questions on the Temu side.
Core rules of the marketplace invoicing process
Whichever platform an order comes from, these four rules stay the same:
- The seller issues the invoice. The marketplace is an intermediary service provider. You are the one selling to the customer, and the invoice is issued in your name, from your own e-document (e-Belge) infrastructure.
- The deadline is 7 days. The invoice must be issued no later than 7 days after delivery of the goods (Tax Procedure Law (VUK) Art. 231/5). An invoice issued after this period is treated as if it had never been issued. For details, see our article on how many days you have to issue an invoice.
- The paper invoice option has largely been eliminated. As of January 1, 2026, taxpayers other than those under the simplified method (basit usul) and the business account method (işletme hesabı) issue all their invoices as e-archive invoices (e-Arşiv), regardless of amount. Throughout 2026, simplified-method and business-account taxpayers issue invoices exceeding 3,000 TL, taxes included, as e-Arşiv invoices.
- The document depends on the customer type. If the buyer is an e-invoice (e-Fatura) user, you issue an e-Fatura. If not, including final consumers, you issue an e-Arşiv invoice.
Taxpayers who sell online also have a separate e-Fatura threshold. Those with gross sales revenue of 500,000 TL or more in 2022 or any later year must switch to e-Fatura and e-Arşiv as of July 1 of the following year.
Individual vs. corporate customer: e-archive or e-invoice?
Most marketplace orders come from individual customers, and you issue an e-Arşiv invoice for them. For a corporate order, you first look up the buyer's tax number in the Turkish Revenue Administration (GİB) list of registered users.
| Customer | Information included in the order | Document to issue |
|---|---|---|
| Individual (final consumer) | Full name, delivery/billing address; Turkish ID number (TCKN) depending on amount | e-Arşiv invoice |
| Corporate, e-Fatura user | Company title, tax office, tax number | e-Fatura (to the buyer's mailbox) |
| Corporate, not an e-Fatura user | Company title, tax office, tax number | e-Arşiv invoice (with company details) |
In Trendyol order data, the commercial=true field indicates a corporate order. In that case, the billing address includes the company name, tax office and tax number. For individual orders above 5,000 TL, Trendyol also sends the customer's TCKN.
What an e-archive invoice must include for online sales
For online sales, the e-Arşiv invoice is delivered to the buyer electronically. In addition to the standard invoice details, it contains the following fields:
- The web address where the sale was made (the platform address for marketplace sales)
- Payment method and payment date
- The carrier's name/title and tax ID number (VKN)/TCKN
- A return section
The invoice details (the e-Arşiv report) must reach GİB by the end of the day after the invoice is issued. Your private integrator usually does this automatically. For a field-by-field checklist, see our article on e-archive invoice details for online sales.
How to send the invoice to each marketplace
Issuing the invoice is only half the job. You also need to send it to the platform so the customer can see it on their order screen.
Trendyol
On Trendyol, you can send the customer invoice in two ways:
- sendInvoiceLink: You send an accessible link to the invoice. The link must remain accessible for 8 years.
- uploadInvoiceFile: You upload the invoice file as a PDF, JPEG or PNG of up to 10 MB.
With either method, you upload one invoice per package, and you can't add future-dated invoices. If you split an order into multiple packages, you must link a separate invoice to each package.
Hepsiburada
On Hepsiburada, you must issue the invoice within 7 days of the order date and either upload it to the order as a PDF or send it via integration. Writing the order number in the invoice note is recommended. This makes it easier to match the invoice to the order during returns and reconciliation.
n11
On n11, you can't issue a cash register receipt. You issue the invoice based on the store invoice amount shown in the panel, before the product is handed to the carrier. That is why the amount in the panel and the amount you invoice must match.
Amazon
According to Amazon.com.tr's announcement in Seller Central, you upload the invoice by opening the order on the Orders > Order management screen and going to the Invoice management section. The same screen supports bulk uploads and lists orders with missing invoices. For high volumes, you can also upload via the API. Check the Seller Central help page for the file format and current steps.
Temu
We couldn't find a public, official rule in Turkish on how sellers should send customer invoices on Temu. We therefore recommend following the instructions in your seller panel and the seller agreement you signed. The 7-day rule under VUK and the e-Arşiv requirement apply in full here too, as they do on every platform.
Seller discounts, marketplace discounts and coupons
With campaign orders, the most common point of confusion is who bears the discount. In Trendyol order data, the lineSellerDiscount field shows the discount you bear, and the lineTyDiscount field shows the discount Trendyol bears.
Discount borne by the seller: This is shown on the invoice as a discount. Discounts that appear on the invoice and follow normal commercial practice are not included in the VAT base (VAT Law (KDVK) Art. 25/a). In other words, VAT is calculated on the discounted amount the customer pays.
Discount or coupon borne by the marketplace: For coupon and discount amounts covered by Trendyol, you issue a separate e-Fatura to Trendyol. You can see the amounts you need to invoice in the panel under Finance > Invoice Listing > Invoices I Need to Issue to Trendyol.
How is the shipping fee shown on the invoice?
Shipping fees and similar ancillary charges you collect separately from the customer are part of the VAT base (KDVK Art. 24/b). If the shipping fee is included in the sale price, the shipping takes the VAT rate of the goods sold. Showing shipping as a separate line on the invoice makes reconciliation easier. However, if you provide shipping under a separate contract for a separate fee, check the applicable VAT rate with your mali müşavir.
In free shipping campaigns, you don't add a shipping line to the invoice because the customer pays no shipping fee. The marketplace's contracted shipping fee, on the other hand, is billed to you on a separate invoice.
Invoices the marketplace issues to you
Marketplaces issue invoices to sellers with 20% VAT for commission, service/platform fees, contracted shipping, advertising and campaign participation fees. These invoices are your expenses:
- Their VAT is deducted through account 191 Deductible VAT.
- The amount is usually recorded in account 760 Marketing, Sales and Distribution Expenses.
We explain how to record these invoices, with a sample journal (yevmiye) entry, in our article on the marketplace commission invoice accounting entry. The 1% deduction from marketplace payouts (hakediş) is a separate topic. You'll find the tax base and how to offset it in our e-commerce withholding tax (stopaj) guide.
Return processes: which document is issued?
For returns, the document depends on who the buyer is:
- If a final consumer returns the goods: The consumer can't issue a return invoice. Instead, you issue an expense voucher (gider pusulası) for the returned goods. No withholding tax is applied on this document, and you can make a VAT adjustment. If the consumer fills in and signs the return section on the e-Arşiv invoice printout, that document replaces the gider pusulası. Details: expense voucher for consumer returns.
- If a buyer that is an e-Fatura taxpayer returns the goods: The returning party issues an e-Fatura of invoice type IADE that references the original invoice. Under the Commercial scenario (Ticari), an invoice rejected within 8 days doesn't need a separate return invoice.
The table below summarizes the key differences by platform:
| Marketplace | Sending the customer invoice | What to watch for | Document for consumer returns |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trendyol | sendInvoiceLink or uploadInvoiceFile (PDF/JPEG/PNG, up to 10 MB) | One invoice per package, no future dates, link accessible for 8 years | Expense voucher or signed return section |
| Hepsiburada | PDF upload to the order or integration | Within 7 days of the order date, order no. in the invoice note | Expense voucher or signed return section |
| n11 | Via the panel or integration | No cash register receipts, store invoice amount applies, before shipping | Expense voucher or signed return section |
| Amazon.com.tr | Order management > Invoice management, bulk upload or API | Check regularly for orders with missing invoices | Expense voucher or signed return section |
| Temu | No public official rule found | Panel instructions and seller agreement apply | Expense voucher or signed return section |
Canceling an invoice is not the same as issuing a return document. If the order was canceled before the product reached the customer and the 8-day period hasn't expired, you can cancel the invoice. For returns that arrive after delivery, you use a return document instead. For a decision table, see our article on e-invoice cancellation and returns.
Daily workflow checklist
In multichannel selling, errors tend to crop up in the same places. Following these steps every day prevents most problems:
- Pull new orders and check corporate fields such as
commercial. If an order includes a tax number, look up the buyer in the GİB list. - Show the seller discount on the invoice as a discount, and track marketplace discounts on a separate list.
- Issue the invoice within 7 days and send it to the marketplace the same day.
- Check the platform panels for orders that have no uploaded invoice.
- At month-end, compare the marketplace's commission, shipping and advertising invoices with the payout report.
- For returned orders, issue the gider pusulası or the IADE invoice and update your stock records.
Integration software that manages orders, invoices and returns from a single screen automates these checks. Even so, you still need to review exceptions such as corporate customers and coupons regularly.
