Last checked against regulations: September 29, 2026

The cancellation period for an e-archive invoice is 8 days from the date the invoice is delivered to the buyer. Once this period ends, the Turkish Revenue Administration system no longer allows cancellation; a consumer return is documented with an expense voucher or the return section on the invoice.

The cancellation period for an e-archive invoice (e-Arşiv) is 8 days from the date the invoice is delivered to the buyer. Within this period, you can cancel the invoice through the Turkish Revenue Administration (GİB) portal or your private integrator and issue a correct one. Once the 8 days have passed, the GİB system does not accept a cancellation request; situations such as a consumer return are then documented with an expense voucher (gider pusulası).
Where does the e-archive invoice cancellation period come from?
The 8-day period is based on Article 21/2 of the Turkish Commercial Code: if the person receiving an invoice does not object within 8 days, they are deemed to have accepted its content. GİB has tied e-archive and e-invoice (e-Fatura) cancellations to this period, and since May 1, 2021, cancellations have been reported to GİB electronically.
The period starts not on the day you issue the invoice, but on the day it is delivered to the buyer. In online sales, the invoice is delivered by email, SMS or the marketplace panel, so this date is usually the same as, or very close to, the issue date.
How do you cancel an e-archive invoice before the period ends?
- Identify the error. The most common reasons are a wrong buyer name, a wrong amount, a wrong VAT (KDV) rate, or an invoice issued for a canceled order.
- Cancel through the system. If you issued the invoice on the GİB e-archive portal, cancel it there; if you use a private integrator, cancel it from the integrator's panel. The cancellation is reported to GİB through that channel.
- Issue the correct invoice. The new invoice is issued as a separate document with its own number, distinct from the canceled one.
- Update the marketplace panel. Replace the old invoice uploaded to the order with the new one according to the marketplace's rules. On Trendyol, only one invoice can be uploaded per package, so do not skip this step.
- Inform the customer. Send the link or PDF of the new invoice to the buyer.
Corporate buyers can also object to an e-archive invoice. When the buyer objects through external channels (notary, registered letter, telegram or registered electronic mail (KEP)), this objection is also reported to the system through the portal or the integrator and is subject to the same 8-day period.
What do you do if 8 days have passed?
Once the period ends, cancellation through the system is no longer possible. What you do at this point depends on your reason for canceling:
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| The consumer returned the product | As the seller, issue an expense voucher, or use the return section of the e-archive invoice filled in and signed by the consumer |
| The buyer is a taxpayer and is returning the goods | The return is documented by a return invoice issued by the buyer; if the buyer is an e-invoice user, they issue an e-invoice of type IADE |
| The invoice contains an error, with no return | It cannot be canceled through the system; decide on the correction method with your certified public accountant (mali müşavir) |
On an expense voucher issued for a consumer return, no withholding tax (stopaj) is applied under Article 94 of the Income Tax Law (GVK), and a VAT adjustment can be made. The link between cancellation and reporting
e-Archive invoice data is reported to GİB daily, and the deadline is the end of the day following the day the invoice was issued. A canceled invoice is also part of this reporting flow. If you use a private integrator, checking in the panel that the cancellation has reached GİB ensures that your sales report and GİB records match at the end of the period.
Frequently asked questions
From which date do the 8 days start?
They start not from the date the invoice is issued, but from the date it is delivered to the buyer.
Can the customer cancel an e-archive invoice?
Cancellation is made by the seller who issued the invoice. A corporate buyer, however, can object within 8 days through a notary, registered letter, telegram or registered electronic mail (KEP).
